Great Fish Catchers

The eagles come to Keokuk each year to catch fish on the open water by the dam/check. The city hosts the "eagle days" in Jan for everyone to watch. They are in the trees resting 6-9 at a time.

brightest.

Sometimes we have weather

We wake up to different weather each day. This is one reason

this mission is so exciting.

We are learning our songs for "Rendezvous". (I hope we learn them before they tire from teaching us) The show tells a great story of the people and the lives while living in Nauvoo.

Christmas Caroling at the Temple

This was our first night event. We gathered our warmest clothes and started to sing. Then went to the chapel for treats. We are in upper right with the "pom pom chore hat" These are our mission friends and we finally learned their names.

Our Mission Mom

This is how many grandchildren are praying for thier missionaires represented in Nauvoo. She is very personable to us all, and makes us feel like we are all very special. We went to her home last sunday for a great meal.

Such Strong Saints

Think back... This temple was started to be rebuilt in 1999

We had stone, hauled in on semi trucks, electric motors for mortor mixing, hydrualic booms, & lift trucks, nail guns and man lifts or conveyors.

The saints chiseld the rock by hand, hauled in by oxen cart. Mixed all mortor with hoes & shovels carried up by rope pulleys or carried up in buckets they built and on wood scaffolds & ladders they built. All hand labor........

We completed our work in 3 years, it only took the saints 5 years. (we only beat them by 2 years with the machines)

The Shadows of the Temple

This is our home, built by Jacob Weiler in 1841, he purhcased the property from
Joseph & Emma. Jacob was a home builder. (He did not have time to make his
very large.) Jacob raised 5 children in this home and earned $13.00 per mo. as a home builder
for other saints. He left this brick home and went west. Such great people.

Our Pioneer Home

This is door to basement where we enter each day. Then go up circular stairs to kitchen, living rm, and more stairs to bed & bath. I can stand up once I get up the stairs. Linda has fixed up the rooms where they are cute fun to be in.
